In July 2022, Victoria, recently arrived from Ukraine, and Simon, returning from a cycling trip, set off to explore the depths of the Jura. On the program: mountains, valleys, encounters, crafts and local sports practices, for an adventure rich in discoveries, faithful to the spirit of Portraits 2 Passages!
A departure under a bright sun for Victoria (arrival from Ukraine to settle temporarily in France) and Simon (freshly returned from his bike trip)! This edition will take them to the depths of the Jura to discover mountains, valleys and terroirs. The two pairs left Dijon at 8 am on July 21 and returned on July 23 in the evening, only by hitchhiking.
This underground wash house is the “Leper fountain” or the “Grande Fontaine”. How do I get there? You will have to go to 77 rue Pasteur in Dôle, take the stairs and the hidden underground. You'll see, it's magnificent!
The Toy Museum is located in Moirans-en-Montagne. He is dedicated to the history of the Jura toy industry, over 5,000 years of history.
In Lons-le-Saunier, you will find the Bel factory, producer of La Vache Qui Rit cheese, but also the House of the Laughing Cow.
Eagle Peak (39150 La Chaux-du-Dombief, France). The Pic de l'Aigle is a summit in the Jura mountains. It culminates at 998m above sea level and dominates the valley of the 4 lakes. On a clear day, you can even see Mont Blanc!
Tuff waterfall. La Cascade des Tufs is powered by La Cuisance. Tuff is a limestone rock of sedimentary origin.
Chêne-Sec is The smallest town in Jura by area !
There is also Merona, which is one of the 100 smallest municipalities in France in terms of its number of inhabitants (7). It is the highest town in Jura in this ranking !
Pipe and Diamond Museum from Saint-Claude. This museum has two sections: one on pipes and the other on diamonds.
Pierre Enon in the middle of the Cirque de Vogna. The Vogna Circus is located near Arinthod. It was dug by a glacier that covered the whole of Jura during the glaciation several thousand years ago. On the eastern edge of the circus is a block of stone, in the shape of a diamond. This unusual place is worth a look!
The coat of arms of the city of Revigny represents a viaduct that belonged to Chemins de Fer Vicinaux du Jura (CFV).
Statue of Cadet Roussel in Orgelet. Cadet Roussel was a French bailiff from the city of Auxerre and was mocked in the famous eponymous song.
Since 2004, the town of Loulle has been known for its important Dinosaur footprint site.
