The two pairs left on Wednesday, April 27 in the morning at 8 am from Nancy and returned on April 28 in the evening, traveling only by hitchhiking.
La Basilica of Our Lady of Avioth Is a Gothic Catholic basilica built in the 14th century.E century and located in the former county of Chiny (today in the north of the French department of Meuse), in the French town of Avioth. It has been classified as a historic monument since the first list in 1840.. Because of its size, the church is also called “The Cathedral of the Fields”.
The Verdun Memorial is a museum dedicated to the history and memory of the 1916 Battle of Verdun, located in Fleury-devant-Douaumont, a few kilometers from Verdun, in the department of Meuse in the Grand Est region.
Les Ladies of Meuse, seven in number, like the Seven Sisters of Norway, are a popular place to walk for Sammiellois (Saint-Mihiel). The first, called the Rock of Calvary, is the object of an annual pilgrimage on the evening of Good Friday. A cave was dug into the rock and houses a Christ at the tomb, the work of a local artist named Mangeot.
Tower of Plaids, in Verdun. Built in the 14th century, it is part of the Grand Rampart of Verdun. In the shape of a horseshoe, it also bears the name of Tour du Puty. The name “Plaids” comes from the judicial hearings that were held there in the Middle Ages.
The Commercy Castle is a castle located in Commercy in the department of Meuse, formerly the capital of a sovereign principality that fell to Charles-Henri, Count of Vaudémont, legitimised son of Duke Charles IV of Lorraine. The castle has been classified as a historical monument since 1960, while the commons have been classified since June 1972.
In 1744, the castle became the property of Duke Stanislas Leszczynski. The ex-king of Poland made it one of his favorite residences.
An exceptional natural and historical site, The Citadel of Montmédy boasts of being one of the largest fortresses in Grand-Est with more than 1.5 km of visitable walls.

Varennes-en-Argonne. The failed flight of June 20 and 21, 1791 — better known under the names of” Flight from Varennes ” or “flight to Varennes” — is an important episode of the French Revolution, during which the French king Louis XVI, Queen Marie-Antoinette and their immediate family tried to reach the royalist stronghold of Montmédy, from which the king hoped to launch a counter-revolution, and were stopped en route at Varennes-en-Argonne (Meuse, Lorraine).
The Notre Dame Bridge is a masonry bridge with five arches crossing the Ornain river in Bar-le-Duc, in the department of Meuse and the Lorraine region.

The Cigéo project consists in burying highly dangerous radioactive waste deep into the basements of Bure (Meuse). This site is supposed to receive its first packages of radioactive waste in 2030. Despite numerous oppositions (associative, local), the Constitutional Council ruled, in a decision rendered on Friday, October 27, that the implementation of the Cigéo project, a center for the burial of the most radioactive waste, in Bure (Meuse) is in accordance with the Constitution.
